Keeping wine in its perfect taste is a function of the right temperature, hence the need for wine chillers. Considered as specialty appliances, wine chillers and coolers are available in various designs and come with varied features that fit the distinct taste of wine enthusiasts.
Important Features
When choosing the right chiller for your wines, you may want to consider some or a combination of the following features:
The first is the capacity of the chiller. The choice will be from the range of a single bottle wine chiller to a container that carries up to a dozen or more bottles. The utility of the chiller may also range from personal use to a party that requires a number of bottles.
With capacity or the number of bottles determined, the size, shape and dimension is the next consideration. It may now range from a single bottle wine chiller to a cellar or cabinet that carries several bottles but also occupies a big portion of the bar. It must also blend with the rest of the furniture in the area where it will be placed.
With wine as a commodity acquired not only to be enjoyed but also to be viewed, the door material is another important feature. This refers only to the cabinet-type chillers. The most preferred are those with glass doors where you can see what is inside. Some units even have lighting system where you can have a peek preview of what you will enjoy!
Equally important are the handle materials. The most preferred are those with stainless steel handles that blend with the glass door materials and the overall finish of the unit. However, there are also those that have soft-grip handles.
Other accessories that further enhance the chillers are now becoming normal fare for new models. These include bottle opener, bottle counter and even a touch screen monitor where you can easily adjust temperatures and other features.
Recognizing our environment-conscious generation, some models also included energy-saving devices that ensure power efficiency.
