Upgrade Your Kitchen With An Integrated Fridge

The fridge is a basic appliance in the kitchen, and maybe the most utilized among the rest of the appliances. It is one of the most visible and the biggest that takes up kitchen space. The emerging trend in kitchen design today is the concept of integrated fridge where all the equipment and appliances are built-in.

The fridge and other appliances should blend with the overall design of the kitchen and it should not come as obtrusive or sticking out like a sore thumb. In other words, the appliances should be ‘invisible.’

Integrated fridges tend to make kitchen more mother-friendly and safety conscious. The open space and the built-in nature of the design tend to take away clutter and make the kitchen more clean and stylish. This also makes the kitchen free from corners and keeps it safe for loitering small children.

Basic Considerations in Upgrading

The main consideration to adopt this design is the cost of the unit. Compared with the traditional fridge, the cost of the integrated fridge is quite high considering the other paraphernalia that go with it and the blending design that make it invisible. In addition, the adjustments that will be made to accommodate the new unit will really make the cost prohibitive by normal standards.

Another reason is the fact that not all fridge manufacturers have integrated models. The choice of brand therefore is limited although there may be many fridge models to choose from. The availability of the models in your area must be determined first, or else, the delivery cost will only add up to the cost of the unit.

Installing Integrated Fridges

Ideally, integrated fridges can be installed for new homes as they are being constructed. It can be incorporated in the design, and can be placed seamlessly. In new homes, the fridge will really be invisible. It will look as if everything appears out of the wall of the kitchen. For functionality, the homeowner can also choose the most appropriate model or design, either from a basic fridge or a fully integrated fridge.

The more problematic area will be for existing homes that will install the fridge. The renovation will require several steps and obviously will incur additional cost. First, the present appliances and equipment that will be affected by the renovation will have to go. Next, the electrical wirings have to be realigned to fit the requirements and the position of the new set of appliances. Third, the whole fridge unit to be installed will require the biggest amount in the renovation work.

Finally, the finishing touches that will make the whole unit blend with the new design. Again, the choice of the models and the design will decide the features of the fridge, either an ordinary fridge or an integrated fridge freezer.

Value of the Upgrade

The integrated fridge concept is not yet that mainstreamed in the design of kitchen in most houses. If ever, being one of the few who installed the design gives the homeowner the feeling of exclusivity. Of course, this is above the functionality and comfort that the design offers to the homeowner. It makes your kitchen stylish and in vogue.

Despite the cost, upgrading the kitchen is a project worth pursuing, it being one of the most important parts of the home. Making your kitchen comfortable and at the same time stylish contributes to the overall environment of being homey. With a stylish kitchen you may think twice before going out to take your dinner somewhere else. Your friends may even be attracted to your place and make it their favorite hang-out during lunch or dinner. These are just some of the possible results you will get when you start improving the look of your kitchen through the help of great appliances like integrated fridges.
