Small Freezers Suit Your Big Needs
For a typical household, we usually buy freezers for additional storage area for our extra food that does not fit our regular fridge freezers. They are useful when we buy food in bulk and want to have a separate storage for your meat products like pork, beef, chicken and fish.
Freezers come in different types, designs and sizes. If you need to buy one, you must take time to think what types of freezer suits your needs. If you are the kind of individual that moves from one place to another every now and then, or if you have limited space in your kitchen, then a small freezer will be the ideal one for you. But small freezers come in two forms so you also have to figure out which one you prefer more.
Two Types of Small Freezers
1. Small Chest Freezers
A small chest freezer is not sleek nor elegant when it comes to appearance. Actually, some people prefer to display this appliance in their garage or basement instead of placing it in their kitchen. It is maybe because they are not so proud to show this off to their visitors.
Apparently, this freezer is not made to be stylish or sophisticated. It may be lacking something in appearance, but it is extremely functional. To start with, these chest freezers do not have shelves but a wire basket. It means it has bigger room for storage. A chest freezer can also hold cold temperature longer and therefore, consumes lesser energy. One of the problems with this type though is when you store or get food inside, you will need to bend frequently to get your food (especially if it is a small deep freezer we’re talking about.)
Also, small deep freezers can be hard to organize especially when you need to move the food around, but at least you can store different shapes and sizes of food item in it. Another thing you need to consider is that, this type will need larger space not only because it is wide but also because the door is located on top. This means you have to provide space for the door’s movement.
2. Small Upright Freezers
A small upright freezer may look a lot like a common small fridge freezer. This is the ideal one for you if you only have small space in your kitchen for appliances. The good thing about this freezer is that you can put things on top of it. You can also place this in the other areas of your house like your bedroom and entertainment room. What makes it more appealing compared to those small freezer chest types is that you can organize your food properly inside it. The food items are visible and reachable. No need to strain yourself from bending and reaching for the food items you want to get.
Since there are shelves included, just like on all small fridge freezers, you can utilize these shelves to classify your food. There are of course a few disadvantages when you choose this freezer. First, it is not energy efficient and consumes more energy than the chest type. Second, it costs more than the other. Third, you cannot put large food items inside without adjusting or removing the shelves.
Many people opt to choose the upright freezer instead of the chest freezer because of its convenience and appeal. However, choosing the type of freezer to buy should depend on your storage needs and budget. There are lots of brands that manufacture small freezers. You can choose from a wide selection of brands and styles at the appliance stores in your area. Some may have more advanced technologies than the others. Some may also have new innovative designs and features. It’s really just a matter of choice for you.
Now that you have substantial knowledge on the difference between the two small freezer types, you can proceed to shopping for your ideal small freezer. Check out your favorite appliance store or you may want to try shopping online.
