A Guide to Drink Fridges

Summer is the time of year when temperatures, in some states or countries, reach up to the higher thirties or even forties (Celsius).  Heat is pretty discomforting, as you move about in the house.  With less movement comes more comfort and that comfort that comes in the form of chilled beverages.  A drink fridge not only keeps you within the comfort of your own room, you perpetually get a supply of cold beverages as well.

Drink Fridges and Conventional Refrigerators

Drink fridges come as miniature versions of conventional refrigerators.  The biggest difference, obviously, is in size, which actually spells much of the former’s advantages.  The drink fridge is portable, so transporting it is easy.  You should have much trouble moving it around the house or bringing it to other places, say, excursions or even out of town.  A lot of models of drinks fridges only have chillers, but the advanced ones have freezers, allowing you to store frozen food products.

Conventional refrigerators, in terms of use, are still more essential than drinks fridges; however, having the latter is certainly a welcome addition to any room.  Gone are days when you have to go all the way to your kitchen just to pick up a bottled juice or canned soda.  You can also store snacks and leftovers in the mini fridge, making things very convenient.

Drink Fridge Features

A drink fridge has the basic features of a full-sized refrigerator, especially the models with a built-in freezer.  It has a cooling system, which is controlled through dials or a digital user interface, run by an electric motor.  Some models have built-in thermometers that show the storage temperature, in case you’re storing items that require controlled conditions.

The device is equipped with a stainless steel or carbon-based casing, durable enough to withstand impact.  As for the fridge door, much of it is made of glass, allowing users to view the contents, easily, from afar.

Additional Features

Modern appliances are often embellished with additional features, so as to promote total convenience.  Some advanced models of drinks fridges have auto-defrost features, which eliminates the need to thaw frozen beverages or meat outside the device.  A built-in thermometer, which is installed in fancy models, let your monitor the storage temperature, closely.

Appearance

Since youngsters are the usual buyers of the fridge, many of them come with sleek designs.  They are made to blend with the rather dashing interiors of bedrooms, giving quite a stylistic edge.  Some fridges sport the brands and logos of beverage manufacturers, which use the fridge as a tool for promotions.  Like some soda machines, the fridge is often used as a supply container for beverages often found at hotels, bars and restaurants.  Instead of purchasing drinks by packs or cases, beverage manufacturers simply refill the fridge, when it runs out of contents.

Types of Drinks Fridgesdrinks fridge

A number of drink fridge models are made to store specific beverages, based on the dimensions of their containers or the drink’s properties.  When you visit an appliance center, chances are, you will find the fridges for beer, soda, energy drinks.  There are also mini fridges, which have a rich collection of storage shelves and racks – like full-sized refrigerators – for those who opt for versatile storage.

Apart from drinks fridges, you can settle for other means of cold storage, such as display fridges, mini coolers and freezers.  These containment units are built to hold specific food products, perhaps come off as electrical enhancements of regular storage means.

The fridges can be used for both homes and establishments.  They offer convenience as well as influence sales of bars and hotels.

Purchasing a Drinks Fridge

Appliance stores and shopping malls sell a multitude of drinks fridge brands and models.  When purchasing, you can go for the products of reputable refrigerator manufacturers, like GE or Kelvinator, since they are known for making quality products.  The catch is, such fridges are quite expensive.  You can go for cheaper models, but not all of them can match or even come close to the quality of reputable fridges.  Research is a must before buying.

To minimize expenses, you can purchase secondhand drinks fridges, which are often sold by restaurant and bar owners.  Slightly used units work like a charm, since the useful life of the device is pretty long, lasting for several years without the need for repairs.  Just ask around your community.

Online Drinks Fridges

The internet is a huge drinks fridge market, even offering models that are scarcely found on the physical market.  There are hundreds of websites selling brand new and used drinks fridges.  Apart from those, online forums let your discuss with people from all over the world which models you should or should not purchase.  Reviews and direct comparisons are also available.  With an active credit account, you can simply purchase your preferred fridge over the internet.
